BAE Systems gets $18M addition for warship improvements
BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards LLC, based out of Mayport in Jacksonville, was awarded an $18 million modification to a previously awarded contract to provide repairs and hull on the USS Philippine Sea.
Work performed includes the hull, machinery, electrical work, electronics, ship and piping alteration and repair work. The primary focus of the project is to accomplish structural repairs and upgrades to the habitability of the ship.
Work will be completed in Jacksonville, and is expected to be completed by August.
