Compal ships 3.9 million notebooks in June
Compal Electronics has revealed that it shipped 3.9 million notebooks in June, up from 3.1 million units in May, and it shipped 9.6 million units in the second quarter, growing 3.2% on quarter,.
It said it shipped 18.9 million units during the first half of 2015, decreasing 3.6% on year.
For the third quarter, Compal expects its notebook shipments to decline dramatically in July, but they will rise in both August and September. However, the company’s overall shipments in 2015 are unlikely to surpass those in 2014.
With Windows 10 ready to launch soon, most consumers have delayed their purchasing of new PCs to wait for the launch and demand is unlikely to start showing up until the end of the third quarter.
Compal has recently adjusted the company’s forecast of global notebook shipments and expects the volume to decline 4-6% on year, up from 3% originally. Global tablet shipments will drop 10-15%, up significantly from 1%, while smartphone shipments will grow 10%, down from 15%.
