Digi-Key Adds to Bare Die Portfolio
Bare-die products, which Texas Instruments Inc. defines as “package-free semiconductors,” are growing in popularity as electronics products become smaller and more lightweight. Although bare die are most often sold by component suppliers, they are increasingly becoming available through distribution.
Bare die solutions were introduced by Digi-Key Corp. to its customer base earlier this year, and this week Digi-Key announced that select devices from Central Semiconductor are available in bare die form.
For space-restricted prototypes in the wearables, handheld devices and gaming markets, as well as other package-free requirements, design engineers can now purchase the new bare die devices directly from Digi-Key’s website. Die products provide the “ultimate opportunity for size and weight reduction, electrical performance improvements, enhanced function integration and reduced costs in system design,” according to TI.
Central Semiconductor designs and manufactures high quality innovative discrete semiconductors, serving both consumer and commercial markets. Product lines include highly energy efficient ultra-miniature devices with superior electrical performance and custom multi discrete module as well as a selection of transistors, diodes, rectifiers, MOSFETs and transient voltage protection products.
“We are excited to partner with Digi-Key to provide designers with easy access to our bare die portfolio,” said Al Simon, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Central Semiconductor Corp. “Digi-Key has proven to be a premier choice for designers and is an ideal fit for expanding the Central Semiconductor bare die program.”
“Bare die product requests are steadily growing in popularity,” said David Stein, Vice President for Global Semiconductor Product at Digi-Key. “We are pleased to expand our partnership with Central Semiconductor to offer our customers this new option. Central’s high-quality, reliable product lines give us yet another high value option in meeting the needs of today’s design engineer.”
Central Semiconductor’s entire line of discrete semiconductors is available on all of Digi-Key’s localized websites by visiting www.digikey.com.
