HTC to raise outsourcing in 2015
HTC is likely to raise the ratio of smartphones outsourced to ODM partners in 2015, according to company president of global sales and CFO Chang Chia-lin.
To cope with demand for smartphones from emerging markets, HTC will look for relevant ODM partners to address the needs of different customers and therefore the ratio of outsourced products will continue to increase, Chang said.
HTC currently outsources production of smartphones to Compal Electronics in Taiwan and to Longcheer Group, Wingtech Group and Huaqin Telecom Technology in China.
HTC’s recently released HTC Desire 826 and HTC One E9 are manufactured by Longcheer, according to industry sources.
