HTC to roll out new series of smartphones in 2H15
HTC will continue to strengthen its smartphone development and will roll out a new series of products in the second half of 2015, according to company chairperson and CEO Cher Wang.
HTC will ramp up productivity and optimize its supply chain to further improve operating efficiency, Wang said at the company’s latest shareholders meeting, during which Wang also made an apology to shareholders for the recent declines in HTC’s share price on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
For the development of new businesses, HTC believes that VR (virtual reality) devices are a potential market and HTC has pioneered the development of related products, referring to the company’s announcement of the HTC Vive during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015.
The consumer edition of the HTC Vive is expected to be launched by the end of 2015, the company said earlier.
HTC’s share price edged up NT$0.50 to close at NT$98.5 (US$3.194) on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) during the June 2 session.
