Lockheed Martin awarded launch contract for EchoStar XIX satellite
Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT), was selected by EchoStar Corp. to provide commercial launch services for the EchoStar XIX communications satellite.
The value of the contract was not disclosed. The satellite is scheduled to launch in late 2016 on a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. Built by SSL in Palo Alto, Calif., the satellite is designed to provide service for 15 years or longer.
