Medtronic settles federal suit over “Buy American” law
Medtronic Inc. will pay $4.4 million to settle a federal lawsuit that it falsely labeled medical devices from China and Malaysia as made in the United States before selling them to the U.S. military.
U.S. law requires such products sold to the armed forces be made domestically.
The Star Tribune has a report on the case, which alleged that the company knowingly labeled Chinese-bade spinal surgery devices as “manufactured in Memphis,” where its spinal unit is based.
