Mitac prepares 3 new IoT products for cars
Taiwan-based Mitac International is aggressively trying to enter into the Internet of Things (IoT) for the car market via its sub-brand Magellan and has recently launched three new products under the brand, the Magellan Navigation Box, designed specifically for cross-country enthusiasts; Smartphone Link Box, an infotainment system that users are able to connect to with their smartphones; and a solution jointly developed with CalAmp for fleet car management.
Mitac’s Magellan system has already received orders from fleet car players in North America and the company is planning to add new services and functions to the system to create added value.
Mitac’s Magellan Navigation Box is also able to track cross country enthusiast’s trails and even add photos and comments to Magellan’s ORV social network.
The system can be connected with the car’s infotainment system via platforms such as Weblink, CarPlay and Android Auto. Mitac is also able to provide customized designs for car vendors.
